The Role
I thoroughly enjoyed it; the people were incredibly friendly and helpful; the work was very interesting and stimulating; the social events were so much fun; I got on really well with the other vac schemers; the offices were beautiful and the restaurant Cloud 9 had amazing views and great food.
Everybody I encountered always had time for me and actually took time out of what they were doing to talk to me or explain something. I had really great supervisors and buddies who were so helpful and made me feel instantly at ease and like an important part of the team, even for such a short space of time.
The scheme was very well organised and management was always on hand to ensure everything ran smoothly.
The Company
Very professional yet friendly atmosphere. Open door policy - quiet but dynamic, always seemed to be something going on, and there was always somebody to chat to for a minute around the coffee machine!
Very well organised, everybody knew exactly where they needed to be and at what time. Social events went incredibly smoothly. There were very slight changes to the timetable when presentations were rearranged for the following morning, for example, but they didn't interfere with the overall structure of the scheme.

I think the general sentiment amongst all of the vac schemers was that we'd we incredibly lucky to be offered a training contract; we all had such a great time and found the work really interesting and the working environment to be a perfect balance between friendly and professional.
The Culture
I got on really really well with the other vac schemers, which is normally a good indication that you have targeted the right firm for you because the firm also attracted similarly minded people. A group of us went out together after the first week and ran into partners, trainees and associates across from the firm at the Corney and Barrow. We had such a fun night and it was really great getting to know people outside of a work capacity.
I was staying in south west London so not sure about the living costs closer to Chancery Lane: I assume it would be standard London prices i.e. expensive! We found a Wetherspoons, which sold the cheapest bottles of wine ever! The Corney and Barrow directly opposite the firm was quite pricey- I tried to make my glass of wine last as long as possible!!
There are lots of great bars and Covent Garden is nearby.
From pro-Bono to sports events to after-work drinks, there was always something fun going on!
