The Role
Fantastic company - really care about internship / placement students, investing in future of the company. I had lots of responsibility and was left to get on with my work rather than being micro-managed.
Very much. I had a 15min catch up with my manager every morning at 11am.
One of the objectives HR set you during the placement is to meet 10 directors/ managing directors – a chance to meet senior people in the business ehich is great.
Due to being involved on projects some days were extremely busy - other days were chilled! It was all about prioritising my time.
Worked with my manager as a team of two to complete project work - lots of responsibility.
• Operations business specific training: 2 days course covering overview of the different functions within Operations. • Top down thinking: one hour accelerated course in “The Minto Pyramid Principle Concept” • Final Concepts 1 day training
The Company
My team were good fun althoughand the culture was great, although my floor wasnt a s "young" as what i've heard other investment banks to be like - but this could be because I was within back office.
great never had any issue - always knew where i was going
Lots of investment in personal training from class taught to online exercises.
Subsidised Canteen
Sports and Social Club
Subsidised/Company Gym
I'd love to go back to Barcap, but within a different department.
The Culture
I played for BarCap touch rugby team on Tuesdays. Lots of sports and social teams/societies to join.
Lived in Clapham (South West London) which is about a 50 minute commute door-to-door to Canary Wharf. Used Green Locations. Paid £160 p/w for an awesome room in ahouse shared with other interns.
Canary Wharf - lots of bars and pubs, although the city (15 mins on dlr) has better atmosphere.
Lots of opportunities but i just never had the time so cannot comment a huge amount on this.
