About You
I could not have asked for a better insight into the different service-lines.
Deloitte really took the initiative to sort out the logistics of the placement, e.g. accommodation, travel.
The company's best asset were the numerous employees who were only too happy to discuss their service lines, daily routine and corporate experiences.
The workshop on developing our interview skills was hugely beneficial, it was a great chance to ask interviewers how to best approach a question and what kind of response they are looking for.
The Company
Overall, the programme was well-structured and managed. While the time management could have been better more stringent, I feel we only ran overboard because of the sheer amount of questions our group were asking the employees. Our points of contact seemed more interested in taking the time to address and respond to our concerns, than keep to their schedule, which is of course what I would hope for.
I think the dinner at the end of the first day was a great way to get to know others on the programme in an informal setting as well as bombard the employees with our numerous questioning on their service-lines.
The company were very keen to show us where we could fit in and how we can advance to the next steps of our career with Deloitte.
There wasn't so much in the way of work-shadowing or seeing employees engage with their service-lines, however the case studies provided an insight into the responsibilities and duties of each department.
I think the company prides itself on it's talent, it wants to hire ambitious individuals and reward them with a career that can take them internationally and upwards through the ranks, with a clear path for success.
It was interesting to see recent graduates sharer their stories and explain how they had moved into their chosen service-line.
Everything Else
The accommodation and travel expenses were excellent.
The informal dinner was a greta chance to meet people from different service-lines.
Yes, informal dinner at the end of day 1.
The recent graduates were eager to tell us about their involvement in the company sports teams and community outreach programmes they are actively contributing towards.
I undertook this placement in Edinburgh and while many of the attendees were travelling from london, I think Deloitte could have covered the night before programme's accommodation, it made some of the logistics a bit harder than need be. Apart from this, everything else was taken care of brilliantly.
