About You
A good week, although having done another spring week and already had a good basis of knowledge of the industry, I felt that most of the sessions were quite basic. Good balance of serious activities and applied skill-building activities.
Perhaps too much of a large group to feel valued and to get to know classmates/employees properly.
Good amount of teaching from the very basic level
Already knew a lot of the information told, but generally useful information told for pursuing a career in banking
The Company
Well timetabled, always something going on. Very clear that it had been well planned.
Some fun exercises but at times too much time listening. Having the Assessment Centre at the end of the week perhaps killed the atmosphere at the end of the week due to the nerves and competition felt within the group
Taught basic skills needed in banking in some activities but not a huge amount of training
Opportunity to speak/listen to graduates and more senior employees in small groups, which is ver helpful
Clearly understood from the first day with company presentations. Gave me a good understanding of their strategy and the people that work there.
Exposure to all different divisions
Everything Else
Live within the M25 so not given accommodation or reimbursed travel expenses. As a result, travel cost me £70.
Speed networking with senior employees and a lunch with graduates
Hard to network with classmates as it was such a large group, but there was an organised bowling event
Yes, presentation on different volunteering projects to join
Would recommend it to a friend who wasn't sure about a career in finance/banking, but less so if they had prior knowledge and were sure of the division etc they wanted to go into
