About You
Ive been interested in a career in IT for a while now and i took this opportunity as quick as i could. This short placement was exactly what i expected and i had loads of fun troubleshooting and solving problems.
I felt valued and i was asked to join in several times but felt that due to the short nature of my placement that i wasnt taken too seriously.
I didnt feel like i was given much support during the insight. I didnt have a problem with this though because i enjoyed picking up things for myself.
The IT skills i learned were indispensable to my degree and the methods of troubleshooting have also been very helpful.
The Company
I was only there for a short while but things ran seamlessly and i followed a short programme.
A determined atmosphere where people were very keen while troubleshooting. There was always an uplift in spirits once things had been solved.
They introduced me to the company methods and how to use their IT suites. Although I wasnt given any particular training to develop my skillset.
I observed many areas in the building but i didnt get to see any of the product development and research which is one of the things i wanted to do most.
The insight left me with a good understanding of the company culture and would consider the brand to be leading in its area.
The days i spent with HP havnt decided my career yet as i didnt quite get so see parts that im most interested in but it was definitely valuable experience if i want to into the business.
Everything Else
I felt like i was adequately paid for me time.
I was given opportunities to meet a lot of employees in the company and ask them how they made it and what route they recommended for me.
When i first started the insight i was given the opportunity to meet everyone i was working with and have a chat with them about their work.
In central london there were so many things i could have done outside of work. From sports to other recreational activities. They work expensive though.
I think this is a great insight for people wanting to go in to computing and electronic sectors and i gained valuable experience.
