About You
It was a very enjoyable, interactive and useful program from which I learnt many new things about investment banking.
There were no times where we felt unvalued, however, a greater emphasis on intern satisfaction could be made.
We were given detailed instructions on how to make the most of the spring week. From tips on Networking to aid in our group project.
The team-working, communication and presentation skills we learnt whilst doing our group project will be very useful for our degrees. Additionally, we were taught new things on how to make applications to banks, standing us in good stead for our future careers.
The Company
The structure balanced workshops with independent working time on our projects well.
The general atmosphere at Nomura was fantastic between the employees and interns. We saw first hand how the bank operated, and were motivated by the professional, hard-working and rewarding attitude of those around us.
They invested knowledge and practical skills in the interns, however, we were not fast-tracked for interviews for the summer internship and this was slightly disappointing, though nonetheless motivational as most of us will ensure are applications at their best come the next recruitment cycle.
The work shadowing session was useful in giving us an idea of how a full time role will be. Speaking first hand to employees also their desks was also a very enlightening in this respect.
We got a great idea of the culture of Nomura by learning about the firm and hearing employees' views during panel sessions.
It confirmed my desire to pursue a career in an investment bank.
Everything Else
There was one session on the first day, however, another session would have appreciated.
We had a social on the first day and it was enjoyable.
There is a gym and movie theatre in the building that is frequently used by employees.
Absolutely.
