About You
I will definitely look back at this programme in a positive light. I gained a lot of new experiences, learnt new skills and most importantly met a lot of new people.
The accommodation was second to none, as was the food.
All instructions were clearly related. In fact, for the assessed group exercise, we were able to do a mock session before doing the real thing, which I found very helpful.
In terms of soft skills, I learnt a lot. For example, I have brushed up on my presentation skills as a result of this. Other skills which were developed as a result of this programme include teamwork, listening and time management (for the written report) skills. In terms of technical knowledge which I could take back to my degree, there was the insight into various methods of valuation during the programme.
The Company
All of the days were structured and everything ran on time. The only thing I would have done differently would be to not have the assessed tests right next to the report writing task.
Everything was very positive and everyone was outgoing.
A real effort was made to make everyone feel comfortable. The hotel, food, drink as well as other resources during this programme which were given to us (the PwC hoodie) clearly demonstrated this.
A reasonable insight was given.
Through videos, presentations and networking with current professionals it was easy to guage the culture here at PwC.
I already knew what area of PwC I wanted to go into. However, there could have been more focus on the different business areas during the programme. Networking opportunities allowed the participants to get some of this knowledge however.
Everything Else
Travel expenses were reimbursed up to £150 whilst all accommodation, food and drink throughout the programme were paid for.
Yes, networking was emphasized over the 3 days
Yes, there were social dinners and every day participants had a bit of time to do whatever they want (e.g. go to the golf course).
Through networking, yes
Definitely. There simply isn't a drawback. It is an excellent opportunity to get fast tracked onto an internship and you were able to learn a lot about the firm. Even if you left PwC thinking it wasn't your first choice, you will have gained new skills and experiences which could help you for future assessment centres and you would have met new people.
