About You
I thoroughly enjoyed the entire week; it was well planned and executed, the other interns were good company and the culture of RBS was very pleasant and welcoming. The one thing I gathered from the graduates was that RBS is a place that allows you to take on as much responsibility as you ask for and are very encouraging in the early stages of your career when you strive to expand your horizons and explore the industry. Essentially, you determine the direction and progress of your career.
Being on an insight week you're not required to do much apart from learn about the culture and different roles.
Being from a non-financial background I feel the week gave me a good grounding, and allowed me to discover whether I had the aptitude and capabilities to work in this environment.
The Company
The recruitment team were friendly and approachable and during rotations most graduates were warm and welcoming. My fellow interns were a laugh and made the week thoroughly enjoyable.
We had many talks ranging from networking to trading simulation games, all which were interesting and applicable.
As we weren't given much to do the responsibility could no be entirely understood but this was expected.
Everything Else
My travel expenses did not qualify for reimbursement.
During the 8 rotations we met many graduates, most were happy to give an insight into their career progression and desk although a few were busy and slightly dismissive as expected.
On the final day of the placement we were involved in a CSR programme which was very enjoyable. Additionally a few of the graduates mentioned their company trips, all of which sounded like good fun.
