The Role
Constantly busy which is what I like, really friendly and easy to get on with people.
I instantly felt integrated within the tax departement from day one thanks to my buddy. The buddy system is a very good one!
I always ask a lot of questions all of which the respective questionee would happily answer.
There were one or two days where I wasn't constantly busy but that was fine as everyone was up for a chat. Most days I was working constantly.
I felt I was given a lot more responsibility than I thought I would. Some of my work was final drafts and being sent to clients.
I am doing a tax module at uni next year so this was undoubtedly a valuable experience. I very much would like to become a chartered accountant as well.
The Company
Top banter!! Tax department was surprisingly always buzzing.
I didn't notice anything that would hinder my view of the internship.
I felt that my buddy invested a lot of time in tutoring me in how to operate most tax software but the IT meeting was informative and people were always willing to help.
I really hope I do have a job with them!!
The Culture
The induction days were really good but I was mostly too tired to do anything during the week and I was the only person in tax and most of the audit lot were away at clients.
I go to University at Newcastle so have a house and living costs are cheap.
Newcastle... Enough said
I was travelling down to london most weekends but got invited to a curry evening, drinks, pub quiz and lunch.
