About You
The Insights in general is great but some information about the firm and the jobs could be easily found online, thus giving a full speech for the presentation limits the question time. On the other hand, sometimes the speakers expect attendees to ask more and more questions thus the students became confused and we over-ran time for the next session. However, it was minor and the programme was really insightful and highly recommended.
The corporate culture in J.P.Morgan is genuinely great. The opportunities for networking are abundant and people sincerely offer their hands if you need help. The team is friendly and helpful. This is one thing that only J.P.Morgan has compared to other investment banks.
Each attendee was allocated a mentor, so beside asking speakers questions, we could ask our own mentor personally. My mentor was in Sales and he was really helpful. He answered all my questions the best that he can even about other divisions or areas that he was not expertised in.
The insight programme is mostly to get to know the firm thus attendees cannot really develop any technical skills. But it was a great opportunity to network, to improve communication skills and more importantly, to get to know yourself and gain confidence.
The Company
In general, the structure was well-designed. But again, as some info could be easily found online, certain presentations became redundant and there was a lack of interactive activities and group work.
The mentors, speakers and staff were all very encouraging. Attendees were eager. Thus, the atmosphere was quite positive.
The insight programme barely touched any technical skills thus there was not any formal training nor development.
From the speech and from my personal mentor, I could roughly imagined what it would be like working in J.P.Morgan. Besides, I could genuinely feel the corporate culture within J.P.Morgan and I am confident to say that it was something that only J.P.Morgan has compared to other banks. So, I could foremost expect a good firm offering the best suited opportunities to me and also great teamwork for the full-time role
Meeting people did help to understand what the corporate culture would be like outside of what was described on internet.
The insight programme gave a full picture of the firm about different divisions and different roles that they played in detail. So, I could determine what I would like to do in the future through the info that I gathered after the programme.
Everything Else
All the travel expenses were reimbursed and J.P.Morgan arranged and paid for accommodation if needed.
There were plenty of networking opportunities not only with staff but with other attendees.
Networking events were held during lunch but I wish there could be more informal networking events.
The programme itself did not mention much about activities outside of work but through networking, I could always ask staff other than their work.
Yes. Absolutely. The programme is about networking, gaining confidence and getting to know more about yourself before applying for a role.
