About You
I really enjoyed the majority of the sessions and insights, but felt that the session run by PBA dragged on and was less informative.
There was slight condescension at some points, but by-and-large those running the sessions gave off the image that we were very much able to fit into a company such as Deloitte.
The insight included mock interview and commercial awareness sessions, and all those around us were always more than willing to discuss any details of the task, their job or Deloitte.
Some of the networking skills and interview techniques will be transferable to other jobs.
The Company
The sessions were near-seamless and the days were jam packed, but a better look at time-keeping would not go amiss.
The people were very friendly, other participants were willing to be involved and the atmosphere was very positive.
We had a few instances of development, but in general I think it was more tailored towards giving us exposure to the industry.
The sessions gave most of the information but the ability to network and ask real employees added to it.
Through talking to the employees and having generic talks on the company we gained a good insight into how Deloitte works.
The sessions on service lines gave us all the information to decide, and we had tasks on each service line too to further supplement the decision making process.
Everything Else
We had a limit of £50 for expenses to get to and from the insight, but we were also provided lunch, dinner, breakfast and a night at the Marriott.
We had specific networking sessions at dinner, but also had the ability to interact with employees at all times.
At dinner, having more than one person to talk to - or perhaps rotation of the people - would have given us a more well rounded experience.
There wasn't a huge emphasis on this, although they did mention a few of the sports teams and opportunities for charity work.
Because of the 'insight' it gave me into professional services as a whole and Deloitte, I feel the experience would be very helpful to people who are struggling to make their mind up.
