The Role
In terms of the work some of it was quite mundane but I also attended some interestinf meetings and had to give a presentation. The social side was enjoyable we had a very good induction where we all stayed in halls together which helped in getting to know people. There were no organized socials after the induction (apart from the final night) but as the interns knew each other well by then we went out ourselves.
A lot of the time I felt that it was as much effort for someone to explain a task to me as it would be to do it themselves but some work seemed to genuinely be useful. Everyone was very friendly and welcoming however.
Work level was very varied and I often had to go out of my way to find work- this really did depend on deparment though, some interns were very busy.
A lot of the tasks were very straighforward and usually checked by someone else afterwards.
I have learnt a lot about presentation and communication skills and to be more assertive.
The Company
The office was very friendly and was invited out for lunch/ drinks on several occasions.
The induction and overall process were very well organized but the workload was not.
There was a lot of time spent in the induction on business skills and throughout the placement I had tax training and e-learning oppotunities.
National Travel
Company Parties/Events
I really like the firm but feel that the work in the department I was in was not very interesting.
The Culture
As already mentioned above, we went out most fridays and had odd other events including a charity evening,
Its London- its very expensive but you can work out cheaper places to go to
Good if expensive, and difficult to get home if you live outside of London.
