About You
The scheme was highly informative and I enjoyed all elements from the talks given by different practice groups to the informal lunches with trainees.
Everyone at the firm was so friendly and despite only being there for a week people took the time to take an interest and explain the work they were doing. There was a welcoming atmosphere throughout the office which I surprised me for a firm of such a large size.
I was given extensive support by people from all areas and levels of the firm; from graduate recruitment to the associate I was sitting with.
The scheme really focused my mind as to my career aspirations and from this persepective it has been of great assistance.
The Company
Despite only being five days long, the Easter work experience scheme was very well structured and clearly answered all of the questions I had. It particularly highlighted the things that set Slaughter and May apart from other Law firms, both in the UK and overseas.
Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed the week and I was surprised both at how much I learnt and how much was fitted in to such a short schedule.
The firm put on a programme of extensive talks and development sessions. We also had an ongoing project to complete over the week which was thought provoking and widened my skill set.
I got a thorough overall impression of the firm, but 5 days was quite a short time and went by very quickly.
This is the one significant highlight of the week for me; that I came away with a much greater understanding of the firms ethos and culture.
It was very helpful, and as I said previously, really served to focus the mind.
Everything Else
I thought payment was generous.
Yes, there were ample opportunities to meet people from all areas of the firm.
The meal out half way through the scheme was a real highlight.
The opportunities to get involved with sporting activities, other clubs and pro bono work were very evident.
I definitely would recommend the scheme as it gave me an insight which one can only gain after spending time at a firm.
