About You
The insight day was good and it was made interesting and engaging by the business game during the afternoon- this was challenging but I learnt a lot from it even though it was only a short exercise. All of the presentations we had were very interesting and informative, and the speakers were engaging.
All the staff members I met made a real effort to engage with me and get to know me and tried their very best to answer any queries I had, especially during the lunch time networking event when we met with students currently on a placement year with the firm.
The guidance and support was good and I learnt a lot about myself and how I worked as a team. We were also given lots of feedback and guidance on our client engagement and presentation skills which was very useful. However, I felt as though it was slightly unclear as to what the next stages of the fast track system after the insight day were as some of the information we recieved was slightly conflicting.
The presentation and teamwork skills I learnt from this have been incredibly useful, especially when it comes to group; coursework projects at university, and I feel they will also be useful later on in my career.
The Company
Very well structured and professional, with a clear layout and adequate breaks and an area of the office to ourselves for the day.
The atmosphere was fun, with icebreaker games and poster introductions as well as the business game, with engaging speakers, but it was also professional, and suitably serious when it came to the presentation and client work at the end of the day.
They invested a lot in us- as well as staff from recruitment thy also had several different speakers com to talk to us, and each group had a facilitator who stayed with them throughout the day. The presentations were also monitored by an internal expert on presentation, again taking time out of his day, in order to give us feedback.
Very well- I feel like I gained good overall impression of the firms culture, as well as an excellent understanding of the type of work I would be engaging in on a daily basis through the business game
I gained an excellent insight into the company's culture and how it is different from other firms, not only through the presentations but also from the networking opportunities.
Very helpful- the business game gave us a clear demonstration of what we would be doing on a daily basis if we were to join the firm.
Everything Else
I was reimbursed fully for my travel expenses, and as the insight was only a day long, I felt this was adequate.
Yes- as much as could reasonably be expected in a day. There was a networking event over lunch in which we met new joiners, trainees and placement year students, which was helpful in giving us an insight into how the firm worked at a lower level.
They were good, however I felt perhaps that I would have been nicer if there was a wider range of employees from throughout the firm, not just trainees and people who have just started, as they were not able to answer all of my questions
They were briefly mentioned during the talks, however, as the insight was only a day long, there were other more important things to focus on.
Yes the insight was overall very engaging and useful and allowed me to develop my interpersonal skills.
