The Role
very different to teh work I do at univertiy, very useful experiance for the future
I went from being the inexperianced intern to a specilist in the field I was working in
My line manager sits behind me and helped whenever I asked for it, or whenever he felt he should add something
I enjoy being kept busy so I thought this placemnt was good for obvious reasons
I was running my own research project setting up meetings, visiting sites and giving prenstations to chiefs of departments
very good experiance in how a company works and operates. the placment was VERY different to the university lifestyle
The Company
the atmosphere was fairly laid back however the majority of the staff were somewhat older than me
very well, although there was a fair ammount of IT faff at the beginning. but I think that's fairly expected with such a large comapny which is also working in defence
not a great deal, however I do know of some interns that went on numerous training courses.
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen
Subsidised/Company Gym
99% of interns get offered a graduate job, however I'm reapplying for the leadership scheme that they run and you can't apply for both
The Culture
yes there were an number of interns around (30 ish) however I didn't live in Bristol so I didn't always go out with them
bristol is fairly cheap if you know where to go out
Bristol is a very large city and has a very good nightlife. loads of places to go!
the interns set up different activities: mountain biking, basketball, underwater hockey (:s) etc... plenty of oppertunties to do things out there if that's what you want
