About You
The entire week was hugely enjoyable and insightful.
Everyone I met introduced themselves and said 'hello' and made polite conversation, especially the trainees whom I shadowed.
I could ask as many questions as I wished and everyone was happy to answer anything.
In terms of skills applicable to my degree, it was more about seeing the law in practice than anything. However, the placement has certified for me that I want to build my career in an International law firm.
The Company
I thought the talks in the morning worked particularly well as our understanding or the firm grew as the week progressed.
The impression I got was that Hogan Lovells is a very enjoyable place to work.
The presentations we were given were very helpful and insightful - I will definitely be using the information to help with interviews in the future.
This was particularly because of the trainee mentor scheme and informal lunches which were organised which were brilliant for asking questions and finding out the honest truth.
I really felt as though I had a feel for the firm by the end of the week.
Everyone was very honest and open as to saying 'this may not be the right place for you - you need to get experiences and decide'. I think a lot of people will have appreciated this honesty.
Everything Else
I was not expecting to be paid and I think it highlights that Hogan Lovells are very willing to invest in individuals.
All day every day!
The partner dinner was very unique and it was great to be able to talk a bit more informally.
I particularly enjoyed the pro bono presentation - this is something which has attracted me even more to the phone.
I would recommend it to anyone.
