About You
Despite being RBC's first insight, this programme was smoothly organised and included both networking sessions and discussions with senior business representatives. I would wholeheartedly recommend it to those interested in a career in financial markets!
We were able to talk with very senior people from the business, as well as participate in a case study where our presentation was judged by investment banking employees of the bank. There was great care given to ensure that we would receive an insight into all areas, and were even given a tour of the buzzing trading floor!
We were given contact details of all campus representatives and support for our applications.
My participation in this programme only made me surer in my choice of interest in global markets. Do not miss this as an opportunity to find out more about banking, sales, trading or research!
The Company
I felt there was an excellent diversity of programmes throughout the day. From a case study we presented in 6 person groups to a trading game, we were kept on our toes throughout.
The atmosphere was professional but relaxed, we were well catered for and were able to ask as many questions as we wanted!
All senior people we met throughout the day went through our CV's one-by-one as part of the recruitment process. That is one of the biggest signs the firm is looking to invest in you for longer term.
From analysts to directors and heads of departments, we could converse with a wide variety of people in the organisation and ask what their day-to-day involved. This process was very conducive to helping us work out where our talents would best match the bank's requirements.
The event underlined the teamwork focused and long-term minded, safe and secure approach the bank employs in contrast to some of its key competitors.
Partly as a result of this day, I hace decided on pursuing a summer internship in investment banking!
Everything Else
We were reimbursed all reasonable travel expenses.
There were many opportunities (talks, cream teas) to converse with people from the firm.
Excellently organised and perfectly run.
This aspect was overshadowed by the bank's efforts in financial markets, but this is to be expected given the length of this programme.
Most definitely, already have in fact!
