About You
I enjoyed the structure of the scheme and the atmosphere at the firm
I felt that my contribution was appreciated
There was lots of training during the first day. During the week everyone delegating any work to me was generally happy to explain the tasks. IT and information centre support was also available and everyone there was very helpful.
The tasks I was given were not particularly related to my degree, but I definitely had an opportunity to develop skills such as public speaking, teamwork and attention to detail. Various presentations and lunches with trainees were extremely informative and allowed me to get an insight into what the training contract is about in practice.
The Company
It was full of sessions or lunches with trainees, graduate recruitment and partners. There were socials almost every evening and it was clear that the firm tried to fit as much as possible within a week. It was great, but sometimes felt like too much as there was not much time left to do the actual tasks in the department and to work on the presentation we had to prepare for the end of the scheme.
People were very approachable, friendly and helpful.
I was only there for 5 days so it is hard to assess, but based on what the trainees were saying, I believe that there is lots of investment into training and development
I found a lot about the training contract, differences between departments and various tasks that trainees do.
A lot, also thanks to the number of networking events that were organised. TW really has a culture of approachability, doors to offices are usually open, you can come in and ask about the tasks you were given. If someone is busy, they will make sure that they meet up with you later on to discuss it
I think that 5 days is too short to truly experience the type of work the firm is doing, but by listening to trainees describing what they have been doing so far in different departments have been helpful to draw a picture of this career path.
