The Role
It was good, however working in the nuclear sector means that everything needs to be done perfectly. This means a lot of tedious detail checking and everything takes so long to complete.
It varies person to person. On one project I had the responsibility of a grad. On the other one I was often doing printing and boring tasks that a PA should have done instead.
My manager was brilliant. He really cared about my development and anything that happened to me whether it was inside work or outside.
In a consultancy firm it depends on the work coming in. Sometimes you can be bored with nothing to do. Other times you can be swamped and have to be working overtime (which was paid) in order to get stuff done.
Sometimes a lot. In nuclear it is hard to give you responsibility because of the safety culture of getting everything right.
Haven't started my degree again so I'm not sure. It will benefit my time management, team skills and my ability to put in some hard hours in the library.
The Company
Good vibes. There are loads of grads. I would say the average age of the office was under 30. This is good because lots of people have gone through the same system as you are going though (internship-wise).
In a consultancy they cannot have work waiting for you when you join. So it was as good as it could have been.
I had one training which was an introduction to the nuclear industry which was interesting. I did not have much other opportunities to pick a course that I found interesting.
Flexi Time
Above 25 days holiday
I will probably get offered a job.
The Culture
There is the SSC which organise events. There is football on a Wednesday. There are oftern grad nights out. I chose not to get involved but there are a lot available.
You can spend as much or as little as you want in bristol.
Bristol is a great night out. The grads also go out a lot.
Lots (see above.)
