The Role
An excellent scheme. We were really well looked after from start to finish. The social activities were great and the work was interesting whilst giving a real insight into the type of work a graduate job would entail.
Everyone was extremely helpful, from partners to associates. I was warmly welcomed, my opinions were valued and I was always met by management with words of encouragement.
Was supported for the duration of the placement by various levels of management. I had a buddy (2nd year grad), councillor (assistant manager) and 2 intern managers (manager and senior manager). All levels offered me support, guidance and help. It was great to have a range of people I could rely on to help me out with any aspect of the internship.
This largely depended on the client I was working on. Some days were busy, others were more relaxed. Overall, a great balance.
I was given a good amount of responsibility (within my capabilities) which pushed me to work hard and achieve my potential. I was valued as any other employee.
I have started to believe in myself and my capabilities much more having completed my internship at EY. I have been equiped with skills ranging from broad skills such as confidence and teamwork as well as unique and narrow skills such as business terminology.
The Company
I always enjoyed the atmosphere in the office, it was a perfect balance of fun and makinng sure that work which needed to be completed was done so.
Seamless from start to finish. We were prepped very well before we arrives, had a 4 day induction where we were accomodated (encouraged to get to know each other during evening socials and daytime activities), had a number of people who were assigned to look after us and who were always available to be called upon in the (unlikely) event that something was wrong.
A great deal or time and money was invested in each individual. We were valued as members of the firm.

The Culture
Socials were organised by the firm at my university before the placement, at the beginning and end of the internship. We interns organised our own socials, at least one main night out every Friday as well as drinks most evenings or cinema/restaurant trips midweek.
London isn't cheap! However, cheaper bars/restaurants were recommended to us. Commpared with other areas of the city, it could have been more expensive.
Bars, restaurants and pubs were in abundance but no clubs. However, the places we went out in were only ever a few tube stops away.
Lots of sports teams which welcomed our involvement as well as various groups encouraging diversity (e.g. a Women's Network).
