About You
The spring week was thoroughly enjoyable, you learn a lot, meet great people and really get a feel to what the job is like. I would say the only way it would be a struggle is that there is a lot packed into the week and the hours can be quite long, but especially when you're getting an insight this is exactly what you want!
They really do make you feel valued, and it seems they have invested a lot of time into making the spring week as useful, enjoyable and rewarding as possible. All the staff there have time for you and you don't ever feel like they do not care about you, but really treated like you could be the future of their business.
During the insight you recieve a lot of guidence and support, about what is expected of you and how to make the most out of every opportunity. Even beforehand you are given advice on how to prepare and after on future steps to take.
I wouldn't say that it had much relevance to my degree studies, but the transferable skills you develop will definitely help. Most importantly the skills you develop will definitely be of help within the industry, and beyond, for your career.
The Company
The structure of the insight was great, with the first half of the week giving you a chance to learn about the industry and then the second half giving you the opportunity to work shadow on different desks. There are also plenty of social and network events, and all seem to be very well timed.
Obviously there was time for learning and time for fun, but generally the atmosphere was very good throughout and everything is really engaging.
The training and development is great, there is only so much they can do in a week, but you do feel like you're being treated like the future of their company.
You do gain a good idea of what it is like to have a full time role, particularly on rotations and talking to current employees. The excersises they put you through and so on give you a good feel of what it would be like.
It was a great chance to learn about the company of culture, the culture of excellence is in everything they do during the week. The friendly nature of all the staff also give you a great idea, and I must say the company culture was very appealing.
You learn a lot about the different roles and products within the bank, even going in there with minimal knowledge, and particularly during the rotations you get a great idea of what you'd like to do in the future and where you'd best fit.
Everything Else
Travel expenses were reimbursed.
There were plenty of opportunities of meeting employees, you are giving a mentor for the spring week and one for each rotation you go on. There are also netowrking events with senior people which was a great opportunity.
The social and network events were very enjoyable, get a great chance to meet people and in a more laid back atmosphere definitely, feel more comfortable than usual such events.
You do hear about these in presentations and there does seem to be opportunites for activities outside of work, and if you were interested there would definitely be opportunity to ask.
Definitely.
