About You
Yes, I enjoyed the programme. If anything, I wish it was slightly longer and there was more work-shadowing, but for a three-day programme I think it was well run.
The staff were all very inclusive in trying to get to know us (of course, being open to interaction myself helped too). The HR teams, as well as many of the staff in the office were eager to know us.
There were very good sessions on Agile techniques and preparing for assessment centres.
Knowledge on Agile development will be very useful. If anything, the insight programme did allow me to make a more informed decision as to whether banking might be an appropriate future career.
The Company
Execution was essentially flawless here - I cannot fault the recruitment team at all.
It was enjoyable; some parts may have been slightly heavier but I felt were necessary.
There were several courses and workshops, as well as work-shadowing opportunities.
In particular, the work-shadowing experiences were helpful here as we had opportunities and time to talk to members of staff and find out about their opinions as well as their work routines.
I must say that what I saw was surprisingly positive; there seemed to be a good sense of work-life balance and a slant towards self-driven development.
It was helpful to some extent, though more work-shadowing sessions would definitely have helped. I understand better how the functions of the bank come together, but could have a clearer picture of what someone working would do.
Everything Else
Expenses - travel fare, accommodation, food were all paid for, and were of a very high standard.
Yes, this was more than adequately provided by representatives of the company.
They were very nicely structured, however they often coincided with lunch and it felt uneasy at times to eat and network
This was actually a major point brought up by the staff - both work-related activities as well as other activities that one could engage in whilst living in the area.
Especially for London students it was an opportunity to witness a different type of life.
