About You
I took part in exciting & engaging business activities related specifically to the business area that I had applied to. There was multiple opportunities to speak to current graduates, placement students and senior managers; learning about their experiences and roles; this was really valuable! You were constantly doing something on each of the three days of the programme; It was well planned and thought out
I felt really at home in the offices and everyone who I met was more than happy to talk to me about their roles, even senior managers. The talk from the UK & Ireland Chairman at the start of the programme really showed me that she and the company took the Spring Programme seriously and valued all of those who took part in it.
I couldn't have received more guidance and support from Unilever employees. We were looked after by two Unilever employees for the duration of the programme and the information and time spent with employees in your business area was invaluable and really helpful. Everyone was more than happy to support you and help you!
I had to present to groups on a few occasions and 'pitch' to a fictional retailer; these activities have helped to build on my communication skills. The information you receive about the company and your business area is really helpful should you want to apply to Unilever in the future.
The Company
An 'action packed' programme with excellent structure!
All of the placement students got on really well and I have made some strong connections amongst them. The atmosphere in the office was very warm and friendly and relaxed, but at the same time, business focussed.
As the programme was only 3 days, there was limited opportunity for this.
It was a fantastic way to understand how it would be to work with Unilever
Everyone you speak to genuinely loves Unilever and the company has a really strong culture bound by it's Sustainable Living Plan and the Brands.
This programme has confirmed that I want to work in Customer Development (Sales)
Everything Else
All expenses; travel, food, drink, hotel etc. are paid for by Unilever
Networking and meeting employees is a massive part of this programme. There was formal events put on such as 'networking dinners' as well as more casual discussions with employees whilst doing some of the business challenges.
Social events were organised for the placement students, such as a 'Pub Quiz' and 'Games Tournaments' in the evening.
Due to the programme only being 3 days long, I didn't really learn much about this.
I would not hesitate to recommend this programme to anybody. Make sure you pick a business area that you are genuinely interested in though as a lot of the activities you do are business area specific.
