About You
The Company
The vac scheme was very well structured and clearly a lot of time and effort was put into it.
The insight was a true representation of a training contract. I was engaged in trainee level tasks, attending training sessions and helping trainees from other teams.
Since the vac schemers were essentially treated as part of the team, I was able to understand the work culture at the firm. I was also invited to all socials including trainee drinks and lunch with the team.
Since the experience was a true representation of a training contract, it complemented my existing knowledge about a trainee's life at a commercial law firm.
Everything Else
I had no expenses to claim. Payments were made as promised, and promptly.
It was incredibly easy to just walk into anyone's office and strike up a conversation. In addition, we were encouraged to meet up with lawyers in practice areas of our choice in order to understand these better.
There were some excellent socials planned, and vac schemers were made to feel part of the team by being taken out on team lunches, etc. However, the networking opportunities were mostly with trainees and newly qualified lawyers.
We were given a talk by the CSR representative who also gave some of us an opportunity to be involved in the weekly law clinic. Trainees also touched upon the various sports and musical opportunities.
It was an extremely well structured insight, with plenty of opportunities to experience life at the firm. There was guidance and support available all through the programme.
