The Role
I really enjoyed my time at AXA - the people were really friendly, and I enjoyed the work I was given. Unfortunately there were a couple of menial tasks I had to do but that is to be expected as an intern!
People were very quick to say thank you once you had completed a task for them, and they never made it seem like a chore to them when you asked for help.
Everyone was willing to help in whatever way they could - I was really impressed. I had regular meetings with my manager and would receive training whenever it was required.
I was kept busy the whole time and I liked it that way. Often I'd have more than one task on the go so if I finished one, then I would always have another one to continue with.
I believe I was given considerable responsibility as I was given work that a Graduate Student would receive, and not what they would normally give to an intern.
Perhaps not so much for my studies, but for my career I think this summer has been fantastically useful.
The Company
Often lunchtimes would be spent playing frisbee outside and social gatherings occurred on an almost weekly basis. It was such a friendly atmosphere.
It was fantastic - the only issues that I came across were access to files and programs but this was easily solved by getting in touch with the IT Dpt.
I believe they gave up a lot of time to make sure we had received the correct training and we were both developing our personal and work-based skills.

Company Parties/Events
I think there is potential, however, the deal with Resolution may alter things and right now I am unsure how that would affect me if I were to work with AXA.
The Culture
It was great - people would eat lunch together every day and have socials most weeks!
Bristol is expensive, but I had accommodation already set up so it wasn't too bad.
I have lived here for the last two years so I know the area well and the night life is good in Bristol! It's been nice not going out with University students as you get to see different areas of the city.
There are quite a few different sports teams available for you to get involved in, however, the biggest one appears to be football, which being a girl did not particularly appeal!
