The Role
Although it provided many responsibilities and opportunities to learn, I wouldn't say I enjoyed it due to the monotony of my role
They know that I am an important asset to the team. However, some people (more like clients) seem to think of you less as you are only on an internship.
The method used was to walk me through processes so I can get a better understanding. However, when it was clear I had no idea what was going on, I was still expected to find my own way, which I believed to be counter-productive.
Sometimes very busy, sometimes nothing to do. Usually in the middle of a quarter is where I have the least work to do.
A lot of the reports were made for IMT (group of countries) leaders, so they need to be accurate and easy to read.
Mainly excel based, the rest of the skills I required/developed are areas like simple maths, analytical skills etc.
The Company
some general chatting, but most people were moving jobs, so the office got emptier.
The team behind the Internship scheme does a very good job, and always asks for the feedback of the students on how to improve it.
I had access to all training that's available to everyone who works at IBM
Subsidised Canteen
Working from home
There are very few financial roles in their graduate scheme. They hire more people on placement than they do for graduates
The Culture
People regularly went out. There appeared to be specific groups of social circles (related to when they started working)
Costs seem to be relatively low, plenty of places to go out, many offer student pricing
A lot of clubs, some have student nights during the week (if you can deal with a hangover the next day). Maximum entry fee for a club is £6
There is a "Giveback" community, which enables people to do volunteer work.
