  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • The placement was really well structured with an option to extend the contract if you enjoy what you are doing.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • My colleagues, and especially my manager really appreciated my work and were grateful for all the hours I put in to my placement.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Whenever I needed help, I would ask my manager and he would answer all the questions I had. We also had a PDM (personal development manager) who would answer all questions I had regarding my career and future.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • It depends mainly on the quarter. Some days I was very busy and other days I didn't have much work.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given some responsibility which was good as I came up with a community for our team. This made me meet other team members who I don't usually work with.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • IBM offered different education courses online or lunch and learn talks. I mainly focused on programming courses and I wanted to learn different languages.

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • On some days I was the only one in the office, however those days are limited. When the office was full there was lots of noise and it was fun.

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The placement was very well set up by the Foundation Scheme. We had a meeting every 4 months with the rest of the Futures which was a good way to meet everyone and catch up.

  • They supplied us with different courses.

  • Drinks after work every Thursday. Movies or theaters.

  • It wasn't too bad as I was based in London.
