The Role
Really enjoyed my placement with IBM
Feel valued, relied upon with lots of responsibility, close relationship with manager and team.
Support from both manager and our PDM (Personal Development Manager), guidance available but sometimes have to dig for.
Usually busy, sometimes it is looking or seeking work. There are downtimes but use this to find shadowing or giveback opportunities.
Lots of responsibility although my manager would often overlook work and report up.
Learnt how to interact within a true business environment, apply my degree knowledge and massively expanded upon my excel skills.
The Company
Great atmosphere between fellow IT's (internship students) and our managers. Some of the other workers in the office can be disapproving however.
Well organised in parts yet some others seemed haphazard.
Some investment to train us to complete our job role however most training is on a database and not all of it is useful.
Financial Bonus
Company Parties/Events
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
Working from home
Appealing, especially if you like to work in a sales type environment, or in project management/consulting
The Culture
Really good relationship with all students leads to great events.
Lived at home whilst on placement so cannot comment
As mentioned lived at home but explored more areas of London due to fellow students.
Giveback opportunities are great but can be rare. Some events but again rare.
