The Role
I have really enjoyed my placement at IBM and I am so glad that I have had this opportunity before starting University.
Everyone was so welcoming from the first day I started working for IBM and I know that in the future, I will be able to keep in contact with these people.
I was given a lot of support throughout my time as a Future at IBM and everyone has always been willing to help if I need it.
I felt I had a lot of responsibility during my time here and by doing proper work for DWP, I was busy on a daily basis with a variety of tasks.
I was given a lot of responsibility during my placement, including doing a variety of tasks which if they didn't happen, would result in negative repercussions.
Every single skill I have developed during my 9 months will stay with me for the rest of my future including time management, flexibility, professionalism and general knowledge about the workplace and living on my own.
The Company
There was a great atmosphere in the office and everyone was really friendly.
It was very organised in all aspects.
They invested in a lot of things.
I think the fact I have already worked at IBM definitely contributes to my future if I ever want to go to IBM again.
The Culture
We would always try to organise an event every week/fortnight which included bowling and meals out.
It was very cheap in comparison to where other Futures were based so we were very fortunate. It was also very good first place to live away from home.
The nightlife was good - there were four main clubs in Preston which were very busy most of the week.
There were definitely a lot of opportunities, however the majority were down in Southbank which is quite inconvenient for us as we are based up North. However, there were a variety of events in Manchester which was a close train journey away.
