The Role
Varied work and lots of opportunity outside my day to day role and responsibility. Great focus on education.
At only age 18/19 I fitted easily in with a team where other members were much older. Intern colleagues at my office became close friends.
Support given as and when needed. Busy managers would be the only problem, but generally found they were happy to make time for me.
Busy and quiet times, but good overall balance.
I was given room to influence team decisions and take responsibility of tasks with no need for supervision or support.
Communication skills beneficial for my degree in Modern Langugaes, although many skills learnt this year are not directly relevant.
The Company
Lots of IBMers work from home which can mean the office gets very quiet. However community of interns is generally fun and lively.
Strong Foundation department who overseee Gap Year, Apprentice, University Placement and Gradiate programs. Offer invaluable support, advice and guidance.
Lots of this training and development came through choices I made personally and opportunities I chose to take up.
Flexi Time
International Travel
Financial Bonus
Working from home
No official Gap Year to Graduate programme but I hope contacts I have made during my time may welcome me back.
The Culture
London is expensive.
Expensive, but fun!
Outside of day-to-day role, outside of working hours- only football (I don't play football, unfortunately)
