The Role
It was a great way to ease yourself into the working environment, as it is a relaxed environment with plenty of opportunities for development. There are a variety of courses you have the option of attending, tailored to the experience you would like to get out of the placement.
Team building events give you the opportunity to get to know colleagues on a personal level as well as on a professional level.
Weekly 1-2-1 meetings with your manager to discuss any issues you may have, or how you can be further supported.
Workload tends to fluctuate depending on how busy the department is. If others in the department are busy, the workload can tend to fall on you.
Given responsibility of your own tasks to complete, rather than acting as support for others in the department.
You are exposed to an array of training courses, including presentation workshops, excel skills, project planning and student events. A lot of the training courses are tailored to what you would like to develop, and you also have an input on what training courses are scheduled. This has provided me with a solid foundation and will assist with future development.
The Company
Good relationships amongst colleagues created a good working atmosphere.
Have the opportunity to discuss what you feel you are getting out of your placement experience, and make changes if you feel the structure is not suitable.
Provided with the same opportunities as permanent employees, whether attending internal or external courses/ events.

Working from home
The size of the company is growing each year, therefore new positions are always available.
The Culture
Many departments recruit placement students, creating a good social experience whilst on placement.
Travel to and from Cambridge is expensive via public transport. Also, rent is on par with London prices or slightly below. However, there is cheap cinema in the area.
Two Universities in the area, resulting in a decent nightlife.
Often get together with placement students outside of work, engaging in social activities.
