About You
The accommodation they provided was great. It's like an service apartment and was next to shopping center so it was easy to get food at night. I have met a lot of nice and friendly people. The food was good.
I couldn't believe how fast the week past by. There were many networking opportunities and some of the staffs we met in the spring week, became the assessors in the assessment center.
There were many emails reminding us and keeping us informed before the week. In the spring week, many in depth presentations and games were delivered, and there were always staffs surround to support.
Presentation skills , commercial awareness and also the business etiquette.
The Company
Very intense, game and presentation, then code challenge for 2 days, then wrap up. we didnt meet other programs people apart from the the social events.
people are very nice and friendly, everyone has a very strong personality.
They talked about agile thinking and also many in depth presentations.
There was a 2 hours work shadowing opportunity, we got to work shadow with two different employers, and understand more about grad job rotations. There are VPs and other employers deliver presentations.
Talking to many different people, understanding more about their working hours, their job descriptions. They talked about diversity inside the firm, the mobility and other parts in presentations.
After the spring week, I was still unsure whether I will like investment banking or not but at least I knew it would be very challenging and there are many tasks require problems solving skills. Thus, there are many many opportunities they offer to graduates compared to other industries.
Everything Else
They paid for the travel and accommodation. Breakfast and lunch are provided.
Many networking opportunities. There are employees everywhere, so really take every opportunity you have and make good use of it.
The food was so good, so sometimes, people just focus on eating and be quite quiet but there were full range of employees from different areas and level of experience.
one of the employees told me that he joined the gym facilities inside the building, also actively play football in weekend.
If you don't know what to do in the future, there is no harm applying for spring week, you open the door for yourself, you find out more about different companies, different companies' culture and the opportunity after graduate. You learn many things outside from textbooks, and meet many new people, understanding more about the reality. Compare different insight weeks from different banks, and pick one that most suit your need, if you don't really have time to attend all. One of the reasons why I chose J.P. Morgan tech spring week is because they held coding challenge, and was one of the top city ibanks who invests a lot of money in technology.
