    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • It has been an amazing time. If you're a developer then Desktop Engineering is a great place to start at.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • They were nice to me from the get-go. I have even kept some contact information they gave me.

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Everyone is really helpful when clarifications are needed.

    4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • The first 2 weeks and the last week it was pretty quiet. But in between I was really busy all day.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was working on something very important so that's where my responsibility was. Aside that, not really.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I have learned another programming language and paradigms as I've gone along. This will hopefully help in my last year project.

    4/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The atmosphere is serious/work-oriented with splashes of fun.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • This is the only short-coming I have found. The set up was a bit rocky but after the first week everything went smoothly.

    3/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • As they are Microsoft partners I could've taken any Microsoft course available.

    4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Flexi Time

    Subsidised Canteen

    Sports and Social Club

    Company Parties/Events

    4/5

  • Definitely a good place to be employed at.

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • All the interns are very sociable and a big group was formed in the first week.

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • London, Canary Wharf is extremely expensive but London is expensive pretty much anywhere anyway.

    2/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • There isnt any real nightlife. Few pubs but no clubs.

    2/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • There is an event nearly every week. Especially at the start of the internship. It's possible to get involved in Diversity groups all the time though.
