The Role
Really worthwhile year with lots of opportunities available due to being such a large, international company.
Busy. Placement students are given real responsibility so you generally are a crucial part of your team.
Not necessarily applicable to my degree studies but the experience will be invaluable for my future graduate career.
The Company
Really friendly atmosphere and more relaxed than I expected of a corporate company. Can ask anyone a question and they will be willing to help.
Structured with regular reviews with management.
Education training courses available on a wide range of topics to suit your skills and interests.
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen
Sports and Social Club
National Travel
Working from home
The Culture
Really fun student community in IBM especially in busier locations of Portsmouth and London. This is what attracted me to IBM and I still believe this is one major benefit of IBM as a student employer.
Fairly standard housing prices in Portsmouth for student housing ~£75/wk. Nicer area of Southsea to live is a little more.
Ok but considering Portsmouth a university town not that much to keep amused for a year. Gunwharf Quays nice bar/restaurant area by sea.
University town so local clubs/societies. Good travel links to Isle of Wight (festivals), Southampton, Brighton and London etc.
