Assurance Review

I really enjoyed my 6 weeks at PwC, I gained valued insight into what it was like to work in audit and gained a lot from my internship.

I was treated as a PwC employee rather than just a 6 weeks intern, I felt valued throughout my 6 weeks and had an enjoyable experience.

The guidance and support given was available but you had to be proactive in accessing it - such as sending emails and verbal-ling talking to people. Everyone was happy to help and answer any questions I had.

Assurance quiet season was during my internship so at times there was little to do, I was never over worked but at times I had to entertain myself.

I was given as much responsilbility as could be given with my lack of experience, I gain full client exposure and was actually allowed to work on the audit work which was really useful experience.

I developed skills in general accounting but coming from a Biology degree this wasn't difficult, the way of learning was mainly on the job with some intense training in the first few days. This training was done at an external training centre with all the other interns from the rest of the UK. It was really nice to meet lots of the other interns and the opportunity to start builidng networks.

I wasn't in the office very much as I spent a lot of time at client sites. When I was in the office the atmosphere was relaxed although not many people would actively look to talk to you. If you started up conversations they were really friendly and any I worked directly with was extremely helpful and nice. A lot of what you get out of the internship is through being proactive.

The organisation of the internship was a little incomplete with many last minute changes occurring, I think this was more due to the clients rather the PwC's organisation but I was sometimes left not knowing where I was meant to go on Monday morning.

There were many opportunities to learn and improve your current skill sets with online training also.

If I gain an offer from the firm I am planning on joining as a full time graduate. The firm seems very supporting of all its employees and there are endless opportunities within the firm which are very inviting.

There were few social events organised throughout my internship, I attended one set of leaving drinks on my first friday but apart from that there were no other social opportunities.

I would say about average.

Newcastle nightlife is meant to be very good but there were no opportunities to try it out.

There were no opportunities offered to me about getting involved in activities outside of work, this may have been due to the fact it was summer and a lot of people are on holiday at this time.
