The Role
A very good company to work for, and one which has an excellent placement scheme with many students. The job was even better than I was hoping and I have learnt a lot throughout the year.
I felt like a very valued member of the team, and became a person which others trusted to complete critical taks.
I received a lot of support and guidance from all members of my department including all management personnel. I was given plenty of training and all questions were answered very well.
I was always busy during my placement either completeing daily taks or long term projects. There was not much free time, but if there ever was I would find something to fill it with.
During placement I was given and encouraged to ask for as much responsibility as I felt I could handle. I was able to get involved with lots of projects on a local and larger scale.
The skills I developed will help me not only at university, but in my future career. I have gained and developed Excel skills, other Microsoft office package skills, learnt newe systems such as Oracle, and had the chance to develop presentation skills, reporting skills and other general skills such as wriiten and verbal communication, team working and problem solving.
The Company
Colleagues are always willing to help, atmosphere was good, encouraged to get involved.
A very good work placement, handover period with previous student done well and then regular reviews throughout the year.
Able and encouraged to get involved in all departmental training and given the same training as full time employees.
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen
Sports and Social Club
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
Above 25 days holiday
I was put forward for a bursary, however due to circumstances I was not able to do it. Also if student performs well there would be a chance of gaining employment.
The Culture
Yes, however this will depend on where you live, but there is a placement welcome dinner at the begining of the year to get to know everyone.
I lived in Rugby, so was a bit more expensive than Daventry, however the salary should easilly cover all costs and more.
Not applicable for my situation.
Able to get involved in different sporting activities if I wished such as cricket and football.
