The Role
I enjoyed the work that I undertook, however slight reduction in rating due to the lack of direction at the beginning of placement in terms of starting the project work.
Very close team of colleagues, made to feel welcome and extremely valued for the work that I was contributing to the unit. Also encouraged to shadow colleagues in their work/investigations and trusted from the offset with confidential and sensitive security information.
My manager was readily available at all times, provided good structure and guidance and I always felt that I could go to them with any query/issue. Also felt that my development needs were well catered for as my manager encouraged me to engage in a wide variety of business activities and anything that I felt would be of interest to me.
The first six weeks of my placement were spent with a relatively low work load, however, I was encouraged to become involved in any project work/investigations/roadshows that I felt would be of interest. The final six weeks were much more driven and the work load more suitable.
I was giving a great amount of responsibility, being solely accountable for all Business Management remit within a Unit of over forty people. I became the main point of contact for the project work undertaken and was responsible for delivering the work to an external project manager.
I feel that the skills I developed will help me in my further career. These are the basis for my work ethic/interpersonal skills.
The Company
Working next to a team of Investigators meant that the office was lively, everybody was friendly and lots of banter! All around me worked extremely long hours and often antisocial hours but while in the office the enthusiasm never waned.
The internship was organised well from a top level- the recruitment team for the entire internship scheme co-ordinated induction/events well, were in regular contact and very approachable. I do however feel that more effort should be made between the recruitment team and the line managers in asscertaining specific project work for interns arriving into the company.
My line manager encouraged me to undertake as much training and development as possible. After carrying out the mandatory training I was free to use my time as I saw fit to complete any further online training courses. I was also put forward for a witness statement/investigator day course as I demonstrated an interest in the work of the investigators. On the whole, very good at promoting development.

Financial Bonus
BT offers a great package- the chance to work for a vast corporation which is undergoing a very exciting period of change and growth. Would recommend for placement- all would be amazed at how innovative BT is!

Although I was regularly informed of events/socials as I was not London based I was unfortunately unable to attend on a regular basis. However, I know that the graduate networking team initiate a lot of events.
