The Role
The people at the office were very friendly and helpful, and always prepared to explain the wider context of any task set, which gave interns a good opportunity to learn more about the business and made the work very interesting. The only problem I came across was that a small number of interns in my project teams did not react well to teamwork and discarded the majority of other team members' input.
Everyone I met in the office was extremely friendly, welcoming and helpful. The office holds regular social events to which interns were invited, which helped me feel more at home.
Our local manager showed an interest in our work and projects, and gave advice for our presentations and reports. However there was no regular feedback.
Work load varied depending on project loads, but this is a fair reflection of the business. The first few weeks were not busy enough as people took a while to give us work.
Our project work gave us free reign to direct our work however we wanted. For client work, as weeks went on I was given more responsibility once I had gained more knowledge, for example helping put together drafts of reports to be sent to clients, but overall interns were not given huge amounts of responsibility.
The teamwork, communication and time management skills gained are valuable in any situation. The varied tasks I was given will hopefully help me in the future as this experience has confirmed my interest in this area of work.
The Company
People were friendly and inquisitive.
Interview invitations were not sent until very soon before the internship, and invitations to the induction days in London were not sent out until a few days before. However the projects were well planned.
We had a reasonable amount of training, and associates were always prepared to spend a lot of time and effort explaining work and its wider context.
Was really impressed both with the people here and the varied tasks I was given.
The Culture
Varied between interns, although some outings or meals together were planned.
Lots of social activities e.g. team lunches, team breakfasts, badminton, aerobics class which interns were invited to.
