The Role
My year at IBM has been a real success. Worked with a great group of people who were keen to help develop my skills. Having both a Task Manager and a Personal Development Manager is a great away to make sure you make the most out of your year.
I felt very valued by most of my colleagues.
IBM really bring you up to scratch with everything you need to know when you start your placement. They will also provide all the support you need throughout the year.
My job role was very quiet to begin with, after I was there for a few months I managed to take on an additional role. My personal development manager was very keen to help me find jobs to fill my time.
The work I do is to do with communicating to Business Partners, therefore it is very important that I get it right. I felt that because of this I had a lot of responsibility.
IBM really want to get the best out of you. Throughout the year we attend various workshops to find out exactly what to do when applying for Grad jobs, and how to write a great CV etc. The workshops were well worth attending.
The Company
Atmosphere in my office was great. There were about 40 interns also based in my location which definitely helped. Everyone was really friendly and there was a great sense of community.
Fantastic. IBM Foundation Scheme is amazing. They always let us know what is happening, and really want to make sure that we are doing the best we can do. The support and education they provide throughout the year is outstanding. Foundation really makes being an intern at IBM a great experience
Foundation really invests in our learning, there are so many talks from various people that it wouldn't be possible to attend everything. From Lunch and Learns to huge conferences.

I believe if you have given a lot to IBM within your placement then there is a good chance. There are plenty of roles to apply for.
The Culture
With over 40 interns in my location and 303 in the UK it is a great way to meet other student.
I lived at home as the office happened to be very close by. The average rent in the area for other students is about £450per month. The pay allowed for this. As the office is in outer London there was lots to do in the area/ a short train away.
There is a lot of nightlife in the area due to being on the edge of london
Loads of events / holidays / activities arranged by the interns!
