The Role
Extremely interesting environment. Very great chance for a student to see the industrial side of pharmaceuticals.
A close community, always ready to help. I was invited to football games and theme nights.
Most of the time I had my supervisors full support. Although there were times when my supervisors were extremely busy with their own work and couldn't help me.
I was given responsibility to run my experiments in the labs but most of the time, I had to run it through my supervisors.
A lot of the techniques learned in the placement have been useful in my degree and hopefully will assist me in my future career.
The Company
Perfect balance between dull and fun. A lot of work was done and jokes told.
Perfectly organised placement with experiences in GSKs other factories around the area as well. A great deal of learning was done in those study days. Also, it gave a chance to meet other students on placements and discuss ideas.
A lot of learning days and material was provided. The time they invested in me was tremendous. I learned much more than I expected and I have used the knowledge in my university degree

I will definitely apply for a job with GSK once I graduate. There is a tough competition to get a job there but you're in it to win it!
The Culture
The social scene was excellent. I am still in contact with a lot of the placement students. We get together often to talk. The colleagues write often and we keep in touch.
The cost of living was affordable for a student. I was sharing a house with 4 other placement students. It was a great place to meet people who are interested in the same things as you are and create good relationships for the future.
Not much nightlife in Stevenage, although it is 20 minutes from London. A lot of weekends were spent in London rather than in Hertfordshire.
