Tax and Assurance Intern Review

The internship was really good. The training was great and I met some really nice people there, who I've kept in touch with. Whilst in my office I sought opportunities to find out about different areas of Tax and was able to meet lots of people and sit in on lots of meetings, thus getting a really good insight.

I always felt included. I was invited to eat lunch with others, to meetings, out for lunch, socials and was always included in simple things such as drinks rounds and quizzes. People made an effort to engage with me even though I was only there for about a month.

I was given a buddy before I arrived who was there to answer any questions I had. My people manager was there to help me manage my work load and make sure I was doing well and enjoying it. I felt that everyone in my team was supportive and were happy to explain things to me several times if necessary.

Some days were a bit slow, but this pushed me to speak to others and find out about Assurance, and the different areas of Tax, this was valuable time and also helped to increase my work load as others gave me tasks to complete and invited me to meetings.

I was given tasks that people in their first year in their graduate programme would receive.

I felt that my communication skills improved, particularly with people in my team. I received feedback which pushed me to interact more with other people. This will be really important when I return to the team as a graduate.

There was a general feeling of good humour. There was regularly drinks for peoples birthdays and dress down Fridays on the last day of the month. People were good natured and when meetings coincide with lunch time, treats were sometimes provided! Lots of sports to get involved in after work too.

The scheme was well organised.

We spent three days being trained at a residential facility. This included intense lessons to help our knowledge as well as plenty of social activity to get to know each other and some of the partners and directors.

I've been offered a graduate job for the following year, which I have already accepted!

many of the interns regularly had lunch together, and were invited to an ACA pub quiz which many of the associates were attending. Interns went out together for social activities in the evening too, as well as being invited to birthday drinks and 'away days' and sports activities with people in their offices, teams, regions etc.

Reasonable

It has a really good night life, with many cinemas, restaurants, pubs, clubs etc.

There weren't many, but a lot of people were on holiday during the period I worked, and everyone kept saying what a quiet period it was! Some people got involved with sports, and there were a few birthday drinks etc.
