    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?

    • It was a great experience, I learnt a lot about JP and what it is like to work there.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?

    • Many colleagues were off at various points so we helped to cover work. We were also able to take over the bulk of daily reporting/ manual roles.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?

    • There are many different lines of support, to the extent that sometimes there are too many people to go to. Everyone is generally very willing to help.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?

    • Most of the time I felt very, very busy, however this was in line with my role where there is always more to do. Work was also at unusually high levels due to prolonged staff absense, which made it difficult to balance projects/ shadowing alongside BAU.

    • My role was within trade management and within this were given our own projects but also allowed to help with anything we wanted to attempt in terms of current problem-solving/ exising trade queries.

    • Taught me the value of routine and project management.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?

    • People worked very hard and often appeared stressed, though again this may have been due to prolonged staff absence putting pressure on the team. However as a firm eveyrone is very friendly.

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?

    • Overall it is a great scheme with plenty of info session and events to include interns and inform them of career paths at JP.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?

    • The training intranet is pretty expansive and there are mandatory courses. I was also encouraged to shadow other teams to learn about my role.

    • Looking for lots of graduates for the Glasgow branch, so very good!

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?

    • Especially as there was no competitive aspect as JP stressed we were being judged on our own competancies.

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?

    • It wasnt as cheap as I wanted it to be, but wasnt bad either.

    • We are in the city center, so everything is here

    • There are options JPMorgan gives, but you dont get much of an option.
