The Role
Fab company, brilliant placement, good collegues, lots to do. Good nights out, with the team (all paid for!!) and with other interns.
All my team were really approachable, with any problems whether work related or for uni project work. Have missed them since i have left, but aim to keep in touch.
Lots of support from my manager, and my managers manager. Guidance for future studies at uni, and how to improve my work at HP.
I was free to manage my own working day. Work could come in quite urgently, or have long term projects. But a good balance, and understanding team, if i said i didnt have the bandwidth to do certain bits of work.
i was given lots of responsibility. One example is when my manager is on holiday, i took over dealing with osculations, and forecast calls and reporting up to the next management level.
I have developed all my microsoft office skills, particually excell, which will of course help in my final studies and beyond
The Company
Great atmosphere, all open plan, so get to know everyone around. Everyone is friendly. Nice free coffee and tea as well !!
Brilliant set up. The month handover was well planned by my predessor, and ensured i was well set up for all the core tasks, and well introduced to key people in the office. Nice day out for induction in Bristol learning about HP as a company, not just the business unit i worked within.
Lots of online training and courses to develop key skills. Also ran several mock assessment days for graduates.
Subsidised Canteen
Sports and Social Club
Financial Bonus
Company Parties/Events
Really good development to graduate skills while on placement, and good set up to ensure i and graduate material for coming back, and good network of contacts.
The Culture
Other interns have great banter in and out of the office. So do most of the people in my team. Couldnt ask for more or less!
Socialising when out with my team was as cheap as chips as it was all paid for by HP! socialising with other interns was cheap as well as Reading is a university town, and some good cheap places about.
Reading is good, close to Windsor and london for other good nights out. Just avoid Bracknell.
Loads. The HP Sports and Social Club, has lots going on, and im sure anyone can find something to get involved with.
