About You
The insight day at HSF was without doubt the best insight I have had into a law firm. The recruitment team made an colossal effort to 'bring law to life' through negotiation and mediation workshops which were thoroughly enjoyed by all.
Everyone I met at HSF was extremely friendly. The evening social after our first day was absolutely brilliant and I felt so comfortable chatting to the recruitment team, partners and trainees at the firm. HSF also paired my with a Warwick graduate on the shadowing afternoon - this was hugely beneficial as it made me just that little bit more relaxed and we had some common ground to get some good conversations going.
Everyone I met at HSF was on hand to answer any questions I had about life at HSF or life as a lawyer in general. The teams that came in to run the negotiation and mediation workshops were also hugely supportive and I genuinely believe I learnt so much from them in just a couple of hours.
The negotiation and mediation workshops made me aware of skills I didn't know I had! I had never considered negotiation as something I would particularly enjoy but my experience at HSF has encouraged me to enter a negotiation competition being run by the Warwick Law Society next year.
The Company
There were a couple of moments of waiting around but that is always going to happen and, to be honest, everyone on the workshop 'clicked' so instantly that it really didn't matter. The rest of the time the structure was brilliant and I'm so impressed with how many valuable talks, workshops and work shadowing experiences we got through in two days - and with a social at the Shard!
The atmosphere during the insight scheme was truly phenomenal. I have never known a group of people become such good friends so quickly. We have all kept in touch through Facebook and it has been so lovely to build strong relationships with law students from other universities. Who knows, maybe we'll all work together at HSF one day!
The firm invested a huge amount in all who attended the First Year Scheme. I think this can be exemplified particularly by the negotiation and mediation workshops which helped us to develop skills that we might not get the chance to use as part of our degree course.
Everyone I spoke to at HSF was very honest about what life is like with the firm which was really helpful.
HSF is without doubt one of the friendliest City firms I have come across and everyone I met on the insight further reinforced that reputation.
Everything Else
As someone is not yet completely set on law, HSF made me forget that I had even considered other career paths. They genuinely made law fun and the environment at the firm is perfect.
There were plenty of opportunities to network at HSF. On our first day, we took part in what I can only really describe as 'speed dating' with different departments at the firm and we met more employees at the social in the evening. When work shadowing on our second day, all the trainees ensured that we were introduced to everyone their floor at the very least.
See above.
Yes, there seemed like there are lots of 'extra-curricular' activities to get involved with at HSF.
Absolutely.
