The Role
I enjoyed the placement much mroe towards the second half of the year, when I had settled in more.
All of the staff at the KPMG office were lovely, even including the partners and senior managers who would still talk to you in the office. Staff on engagement teams made you feel very valued as a part of the team.
I was assigned a mentor at the start of the year which helped me imensley, and an appraisal manager for any questions I may have had. Also, when on each job the in-charge always had plenty of time to coach me.
Several of my clients were very large and so the audits were very busy. However, the engagement team would always understand that if you needed to revise for the professional exams then you needed to leave work on time.
As soon as I started the placement I was given responsibility over my own work, and this increased throughout the year.
I gained a lot of skills which will benefit jobs, such as time management and confidence. Also, sitting the professional exams enhances your employability greatly.
The Company
The people in the office were very friendly. The only time there was a negative was in busy season as some people got slightly stressed, but were still friendly towards you.
Once I had started the placement it was very well organised. However I received my joining instructions very late and never received my 'smart' contact.
The company invest a lot of money in you, by paying for you to become professionaly qualified. You also complete a large number of training courses.

Placement students are often asked to return, and would return as if they were in their second year of employment. There is also the opportunity to move offices.
The Culture
Each department has a social committee, who organise away days, meals and nights out.
Nightlife in Leeds is very good, with a large selections of bars and clubs.
