  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?

    • I had a fantastic time and was genuinely sad when it was over; it was a very educational and enjoyable experience.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?

    • Even though the lawyers at HSF clearly had busy schedules I felt like they all had time to talk and answer any questions I had.

    • I was given lots of useful information both about being a commercial lawyer and about applying for vacation schemes and training contracts.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?

    • I definitely feel much more prepared to make an application to a law firm now than I did beforehand.

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?

    • I never felt bored or without anything to do; everything was well-thought out and a lot of effort had clearly been put into the programme.

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?

    • It was very social and friendly, and most importantly I didn't feel like I was being constantly tested and evaluated, rather that I was there to learn.

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?

    • I was very impressed at the amount of time and work that HSF had put into looking after us, particularly the two workshops we took part in.

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?

    • Shadowing a trainee was hugely helpful in giving me a proper insight into what life as a commercial lawyer is like.

    • Obviously it is hard to tell entirely but I felt like everyone I met was very genuine and gave me a true picture of the high and low points of working at HSF.

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?

    • I personally did not need to be reimbursed for my travel expenses but anyone who did require it received it.

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?

    • There was a social event on the first evening as well as having lunch with other trainees and shadowing a trainee on the second afternoon.

    • Very relaxed and good fun.

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?

    • Most of the trainees I spoke to seemed to be involved in some kind of sport through HSF.

    • Absolutely, I already have done so!
