About You
It was a great experience, with a lot of insight into the firm, and law firms in general, that I had never really considered before. I would definitely recommend this experience.
I got to spend a lot of time in a specific area of the firm, and got to know the people working there rather well. We spent time chatting about what we wanting to do in the future, and with the fact that we were given research tasks, we felt included.
We received a lot of support from the practicing solicitors, particularly during the mock trial which took place over halfway through the week.
It allowed me to get a good idea of what a future in the legal profession would be like, and made me decide that I definitely want a degree in Law.
The Company
Very well structured, as it gave us plenty of time in our selected fields to get to know and understand the area of law, but not so much as to make it dull.
I got to see both the relaxed, calm side of the firm and the busy, stressed side of the firm, which I found extremely insightful, as it was an accurate representation of what the legal profession is usually like.
We spent an entire day trying to build up a strong understanding of Intellectual Property law, with clear and concise information which allowed us to implement it efficiently in the mock trial.
As mentioned previously, the fact that I saw the firm on both calm days and busy days gave me a good understanding of what a full-time role at the firm would entail.
The company culture was a very friendly, relaxing atmosphere, with the majority of employees helping each other and socializing in free time.
Everything Else
As a result of the experience, we all received approximately £173, which is an added bonus to an already incredible experience.
Particularly during lunchtimes, the solicitors, and sometimes barristers, would speak with us, and we were able to ask any questions that we were curious about.
They allowed us to, as mentioned beforehand, ask any burning questions that we were curious about. Thus, they were very successful.
The employees were planning things such as Wii competitions, which provided me with an insight as to what life as a solicitor outside of work was like.
I would 100% recommend this placement to any aspiring lawyer, as it will provide you with a good knowledge of how a top law firm functions.
