The Role
My work placement was in Hybrids, which I found to be very interesting with the upcoming technology, I very much enjoyed the placement with new ideas and projects, also seeing how it changed even over 15 months.
The team I worked in is one of the best by far, I really felt part of the team and any questions or issues I had no problem asking. Also everyone was friendly and were 'like family'.
My manager gave me the support I needed, but also left me to get on with my projects without too much assistance. But any issues or problems they were extremely helpful.
I was busy, but then I think as involved in more research there were very busy days and lesser busier days, just depending how far in the project I was.
In the beginning of the project I was the only mechanical engineer in the team so I had alot of responsibility, then joined by a second I was able to inform of current progress and then keep running projects.
I have learnt skills for life, my confidence and ability to adapt to changing work has greatly improved. Also I have learnt document everything - it always helps!
The Company
Everyone was always busy and something was going on.
It was ran well, and you felt like you had a real job very quickly!
I have completed various training sessions, but also a TAS module which will be valuable for my degree as well.
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen
Subsidised/Company Gym
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
Working from home
I have yet to apply to go on the grad scheme but it is looking hopeful as the period of experience I have gained and worked with them.
The Culture
Luckily there were three houses nearby of 12 month placement students ( I was in a house of 5) so we got up to lots as a group.
Cost wasn't too expensive, we lived a little out of town but in a detached house with a garden and garage, it wasnt expensive!
There are lots of bars, clubs and places to do activities in the evening, Leamington has alot going on!
Yes, but if you asked around. I got involved in alot of sports clubs in the afternoons/evenings which kept me busy.
