The Role
My year at HP has been really enjoyable - I have gained so much experience and had the opportunity to get involved in lots of different things.
The work you do is highly valued by your team.
The one month handover period when you start your placement is the time where you will learn everything you need to know about the role however there is always support and guidance available after this period if you need it.
There was never a time when I didn't have anything to do. There would be days when there weren't enough hours in the day & days when you were a bit quieter however there is always something to be doing.
I was given a lot of responsibility with the role I was in. Sometimes it was quite daunting but great experience.
The time management and compute skills that I have developed will be really important to assist in the rest of my degree and beyond.
The Company
I was based in HP's head office therefore there were always lots of people around.
The training period at the start of my placement was really well organised.
There were a lot of online training courses we could carry out (for example, excel training). We had a meeting towards the beginning of the year to discuss my objectives. I then reviewed these with my manager mid way through my placement (and will be doing once more at the end). There are also opportunities to get experience in other parts of the business by shadowing people for a couple of days.

The Culture
Yes - there's an intern committee who organise nights out, charity events etc. There are around 50 interns based in Bracknell alone.
Average.
Average however it's only 25mins on the train to London so there is always something to do.
Yes - the intern committee set up days/nights out for us out of work.
