The Role
I was given the opportunity to experience different parts of the role and sit in on meetings to get an idea of what more senior members of the team did day to day which was very interesting.
Everybody made me feel very welcome, even those who I didn't get a chance to work with directly made an effort to introduce themselves.
My manager made sure to check that the work I was being given was explained to me and that I knew what I was doing, he also made sure that I had exposure to a number of different areas of the business.
I always had plenty of tasks that I could be getting on with and could ask my manager for extra things to do once I had finished or was waiting for feedback in one area.
I was given freedom to research any ideas that I had in relation to the project I was involved in and then explain them at meetings.
I was able to use the time to think about what area of the business I would be most suited to and to get a feel for what the company would be like to work for which was very useful.
The Company
Everybody was always happy to stop for a chat in the kitchen while grabbing a drink which meant that the atmosphere was friendly and you were able to ask for help from people that you might not have if this wasn't the case.
The application process was smooth and clear, the open evening before hand was very helpful and all communications were clear.
Lots of time working with the team training me on various processes, a number of training tasks to complete.

Will be joining the same office I interned with in September!
The Culture
I was the only placement student in the Edinburgh office but the colleagues were very friendly and invited me for drinks after work on a number of Fridays during my placement.
I already lived in the area so the costs were fairly consistent with usual living and socialising costs.
Lots of choice of places to go for drinks after work,
End of month drinks, day at the races and a number of trips for lunch and drinks.
